The Civil Service Institute particularly Department of Development Management is pleased to have invited a senior civil servant and the Director General of the Ministry of Trade and Tourism – Mr Abdirashid Ibrahim as a guest lecturer. Abdirashid, who formerly served as a Director General of the Ministry of Planning and National Development and the Ministry of Employment, Social Affairs and Family, presented how the Somaliland public policies are formulated and the challenges faced to implement those policies effectively.The senior students of the Development Management Department were enthusiastic about the well-informed and practical scenarios that Abdirashid brought to light. He highlighted the adverse effects of the transferred policies from other countries without contextualizing them may have on our public institutions. He challenged the students to contribute their knowledge to get the right public policies to improve citizens’ lives.
There was a Question & Answer session after the lecture. The students got the opportunity to ask the DG critical questions related to Somaliland public policies.
In the end, students thanked Abdirashid, the Dean of the Development Management Department– Mr Mihileh Elmi and the course lecturer – Mr Mohamed Yusuf, for organizing this great event.
