Mr. Jimale Abdilahi Jama (Cawke) was invited on August 14th, 2022, to lecture at CSI's Department of Public Administration. He spoke to our sophomore class about "Decentralization Policy in Somaliland." Mr. Jimale has extensive experience with service delivery models (SDM), having served as the director of Social Affairs at Berbera Municipality from 2014 to 2018. He was also the Berbera Municipality's director of planning from 2018 to 2021. He is a planning expert who oversaw Berbera Municipality's five-year district development framework. Mr. Jimale illustrated to the students the historical formation of the Somaliland decentralization policy roadmap, as well as how the JPLG Program is committed to supporting the evolving process of decentralization in Somaliland, as provided by the UN Joint Programme on Local Governance and Decentralized Services (known as "JPLG"). As a result, JPLG continues to prioritize local governance and decentralization throughout Somaliland. We hope that the students learned a lot from this lesson and will use it to help Somaliland advance. We are committed by giving students more opportunities outside of the classroom
